"The Dark Plinkett Rises" is sixth and final episode of the first season of the 789 Films animated web series, Mr. Plinkett: The Animated Series. It first aired on July 25, 2012 on YouTube.[1] The episode was animated and edited by Shaun McKinnon, combining preexisting voice-work by Mike Stoklasa and RedLetterMedia productions with other sources to create a unified story.[2]

Mr. Plinkett sneaks in a theater to see The Dark Knight Rises,[3] but his disruptive behavior irritates Christian Bale. This was the last episode released independently by 789 Films before the series was picked up and distributed by RedLetterMedia.

After buying a ticket for Magic Mike, Mr. Plinkett sneaks in to see The Dark Knight Rises. His humming in the theater annoys Christian Bale, who scolds Plinkett through the movie screen for disrupting the film. Plinkett, however, remains belligerent and a fist-fight ensues.

Episodes in the first season were initially distributed with alternate titles; the original title of this episode was "Dark Plinkett Rises.".[1] Many visual references to RedLetterMedia productions are scattered throughout the short.

Sources for the audio used in the episode were captured from various RedLetterMedia productions and Christian Bale's rant on the set of Terminator: Salvation.

The episode first aired July 25, 2012 on the 789 Films YouTube channel.[1] It was officially released August 19, 2012 on Blip,[3][4] and later added to the RedLetterMedia YouTube channel on March 16, 2013.
