"Mr. Plinkett Gets Shot Out Back for Ruining Christmas" is the second episode of the second season of the 789 Films animated web series, Mr. Plinkett: The Animated Series, and 8th episode of the series overall. It first aired December 23, 2012 on Blip as the second Christmas-themed episode of the animated series.[1][2] The episode was animated and edited by Shaun McKinnon, combining preexisting voice-work by Mike Stoklasa and RedLetterMedia productions with other sources to create a unified story.[3]

After witnessing a despondent Santa Claus's horrific suicide, Mr. Plinkett must save Christmas.

Making his rounds on Christmas, Santa meets a little boy who insists on seeing Santa's reindeer. Santa tries to dissuade the boy from climbing onto the roof to no avail. The stubborn boy slips and falls to his death. Shocked, Santa panics and leaves the scene.

While dumping a body off a bridge, Mr. Plinkett witnesses the despondent Santa Claus's horrific suicide. To save Christmas, he attempts to finish delivering the presents, but crashes into the Happy Dale Orphanage, setting the building on fire.

Sources for the audio used in the episode were captured from various RedLetterMedia productions and a 1945 broadcast of Sherlock Holmes radio play, Night Before Christmas. Many visual references to RedLetterMedia productions are scattered throughout the short.

The episode first aired December 23, 2012 on Blip,[1][2] and was later added to the YouTube channel on March 16, 2013.
